D&Ad - The Wall - Initial Design Development
I further explored the fonts available on google fonts to see what worked well with my project.
‘Six Caps’s’ very narrow sans serif forms work quite well to form brick like structures but I didn’t feel the line weight went high enough in ratio with the height of the letterforms.
‘Russo One’ was a bit thicker and I experimented with changing line weights of some of the horizontal lines to represent the lines of concrete between bricks. From. Here I kind of thought the typeface needs to be a bit more exciting or intriguing. I experimented with manipulating the letters to fit a brick grid system but it just looked messy.
I did some 3d letters to represent a 3d wall which is interesting as a bit of display text but for a fully integrated type project, a 2d font would be more functional.
‘Anton’ is a very blocky typeface and I experimented with making it into a stencil typeface which worked quite effectively in my opinion especially with the vertical lined one. However the question is whether this is just a bit basic and overused, do I need to edit it even more with a more original method.
