EOYS Design Development - Applying Identity to Whole Campaign

To get some feedback on these projects before submitting them, we had the opportunity to pitch to our tutors, so I developed this visual identity and applied it to the rest of the campaign.

As I thought, because of the rational and modular layout of this idea, it was fairly intuitive to apply to different aspects of collateral. One of the fundamental aspects I changed first was adding in the colour blue; having the three primary colours felt very bold and captivating, and also since we are an art uni, and the three primary colours are what’s used to create every other colour, it felt quite applicable.

I applied the modules to this poster design; like the title of the exhibition, I put the dates and info in Moret Bold, in a symmetrical contained shape-like form, in order to add structure. The right angled arrow was added after numerous experiments with layout and finding a composition which allowed the arrow to point at/into the circle, in a harmonious composition. In order to emphasise the LAU logo (mentioned in our brief it must be displayed large) I put it where the 3 modules meet, this also added to the structural feel.

For the a6 flyer and the editorial advertisements, this visual identity was applied in a similar manner, using the same colour and type within modules, the emphasis with both being arrows of some form pointing at the circle, reinforcing the concept.

For the catalogue I had the idea to do a poster zine format for it, thinking about production, this would be cheaper and easier, it would allow people to have a poster to take home, and the modular layout lent itself very well to the flip side of the poster zine which showed info about each course in individual boxes.

Having used various arrows within these visuals, I thought that these arrows could be utilised within the way-finding for the exhibit.

For the large scale sign which would be displayed on the exterior of the Vernon street building, its larger scale meant that the size of these modules could be explored even more, going down into more intricate geometric boxes. The overall visual effect of this was a very detailed geometric sign design which would look impressive to passers by.

Lastly, an idea for the social media and online advertisements was the every simple instagram ad designs, the layout was simplified for these, making the details more readable on a smaller scale, with the bright colours still capturing attention.
