Science Fiction - Earth in Retrograde

Considering the Moving to Mars exhibit a lot, humans looking into the future when we might be living on Mars, I had the idea to consider ,what would an exhibit look like on Mars in 3020 that looks back to when humans lived on Earth? This is almost the exact opposite, and considering this science fiction future on Mars, it’s really interesting to speculate how much this future ‘martian’ race would know about when we lived on earth.

I want to create some branding or a specific aspect of an exhibit on Mars in 3020 that is all about Earth and when humans lived there.

 Things to consider

  • 1000 years in future humans would have lived on mars for hundreds of years, there there won’t have been a human alive for hundreds of years who was actually on Earth. This means they’re view of earth and life on earth would be purely speculative and based solely upon knowledge and information which has remained and been passed down.
  • What information has remained? What sources of information about life on earth would they have? Maybe they have an archive of information, would it all be on the internet? Would the internet on mars have all the information ours does or would they have had to build a new one?
  • An important thing to consider is that this period of time would seem so far back and historical to a martian civilisation. Consider how we regard 1000 years back in our past, we don’t know much about it. And though technology would allow humans 1000 years in the future to know much more about us, there would still be so much that would be lost in time.
  • Life in Mars would be so different then it is now on earth that many aspects would seem so alien, almost mythological because there would be nothing like it on this future mars world - plant life, animals, nature, vast bodies of water, an inhabitable climate, blue skies. All of these things would be unimaginable for the future martian civilisation, I think they would definitely be embellished and seem mythological.
