The Wall D&AD - Devloped Designs

These designs show developments from my poster design I made. I liked the design of that poster, however the type in the middle felt a bit too closed in, and also, whilst I liked the aesthetic of the type around the border, it makes it harder to read.

Ultimately I think this is my favourite poster design so far -

the contrast of the black on white is very bold and I like the neon spot colour in the background, also the body text/copy is more readable. What needs improving: The body text is readable but I feel like its not quite sitting right, with some more experimenting with type setting and adjusting it, I think I could come up with a more harmonious arrangement. Also, while I do like the neon in the background, I need to reconsider the conceptual relevance of this outward glowing aura shape I’ve made; originally made to depict the light coming out from a crack in the wall, I don’t think this is that obvious. With a bit more research I think I can come up with something better to symbolise this.

I also developed a few more vinyl sleeve designs. This time I’ve ditched the ‘Tear down’ simply going with ‘The Wall’ and ‘Pink Floyd’ the name and artist of there record. I think this is more concise and actually works as a cover for the album. If the design aesthetic and rationale tie in with the rest of the campaign, the concept should link anyway.
