D&AD - The Wall - Design ideas with Variable fonts

Reading the brief, it highlights how using a variable font is not a necessity but almost suggest that it would be an added bonus, almost like they want to showcase them. I picked a few Variable fonts on google fonts - ‘Orbitron, Public Sans, Open sans and Oswald’ and did some designs.

They’re very rough and at this point in the project I was getting a bit of a creative block. I did add in some copy, talking about mental health  which I think highlights the issue and the connection with The Wall album well.

I think the main advantage of a variable font is clearly the ability to adjust the weight with much more accuracy, so these designs work quite well because they demonstrate that.

I have a crit coming up so that should offer some good insight into which of the many rough designs I’ve done are the best and which idea works best.
