COP Supervisor Tutorial Feedback 2
In this second tutorial with my COP supervisor, the first thing we did was go through the draft of the first section that I wrote.
The feedback dictated that my intro and first paragraph about the conception of the album cover gave some good context, however maybe I could relate back to consumerism at the end of it. As for the rest of it, after some discussion, we decided that maybe I don’t need an entirely separate section about album covers, and that they’re so fundamental within the essay question that instead it can be an underlying theme I explore in each section of the essay - using these case studies that I’ve found where applicable. The most important advice I got was that I constantly need to be relating back to the title of the essay and constantly highlighting why what I’m saying is important for the consumption of music.
Considering how I need to structure my essay sections, I came up with a frame for the sections that I think could work quite well:
- Introduce theme of section
- Triangulate 3 conflicting sources on why its important
- Analyse these sources, suggesting a stance towards the topic
- Relate this to a theory
- Relate back to essay question (consumption of music)
As a next step, I will try to write out a draft for one of my sections using this framework and get some feedback on how effective it is and how rationally it works in my essay.
Feedback for my practical design project was good; I picked a logo to use for the project however I was concerned that it wasn’t as legible enough (the scriptive type saying music), especially considering the context of it appearing small in the corner of a screen. My supervisor agreed with this and we agreed another logo design I had was a lot better. Next week we have group tutorials on out practical design work so I will have an opportunity there to get some more feedback on what works best.
